MyCAA

The My Career Advancement Account (MyCAA) Scholarship is a program that is designed for workforce development. MyCAA will provide eligible military spouses a maximum of $4,000 ($2,000 per fiscal year) in financial assistance. Military spouses must be pursuing or maintaining a licenses, certification, or associate鈥檚 degree (including continuing education courses) that are necessary to gain employment in an occupation or career field.

  • Available to spouses of active duty Service members in pay grades E1-E5, W1-W2, and O1-O2;
  • Awards are applied to tuition;
  • Begin by registering for MyCAA here. Once you have created your account and selected 橘子视频 as your school, send an email with MyCAA and your student ID in the subject line to William Gammon at wgammon@georgiasouthern.edu to have your Education Training Plan created.
  • Once you receive your award, please fill out the to notify the Bursar鈥檚 Office that you will be receiving funds from an outside agency. WARNING: If you do not complete the prior to the payment deadline, you will be dropped from your classes and you will have to re-register.
  • Please Note: The My Career Advancement Account Scholarship is part of the Department of Defense Spouse Education and Career Opportunities (SECO) program. The scholarship is administered by, and awarded through, the Military OneSource Spouse Career Center. Georgia Southern staff will provide you with the Education and Training Plan (ETP) and show you how to create a My Career Advancement Account, but please remember that MyCAA Scholarships are awarded to you from a third party, and not from the University.

The Landings Military Family Relief Fund



“Military Spouse Scholarship”

The Military and Veteran Services is pleased to announce the Landings Military Spouse Scholarship. If you are the spouse of an active duty service member you may be eligible to receive up to $3,600 for tuition and fees to assist you in completing your higher education journey with 橘子视频.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be the spouse of an active duty service member (Army, Navy, Marine, Air Force, Coast Guard, Space Force, Guard/Reserves)
  • If your spouse is in the National Guard or is an AGR Member, they must be on federal Title 10 active duty orders
  • Applicants must have successfully completed one term as a full-time student at 橘子视频. 
  • Good academic standing
  • Awards are used to聽help fund costs not covered by financial aid.

The Chatham Artillery Scholarship

The Chatham Artillery Scholarship Endowment is to support students currently serving or who have served in the Georgia Army National Guard or dependents of those who are currently serving or have served in the Georgia Army National Guard. Priority is given to students currently serving in the Georgia Army National Guard followed by students who formerly served in the Georgia Army National Guard followed by dependents of those currently serving or have served in the Georgia Army National Guard. Students must be in good academic standing. The scholarship may be renewed.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be enrolled for an eligible undergrad or graduate degree program at 橘子视频
  • Must be an active member or a veteran of the Georgia Army National Guard or the dependent of an active member or a veteran of the Georgia Army National Guard
  • Must be in good academic standing with a minimum GPA of:

  • Must be an active member or a veteran of the Georgia Army National Guard or the dependent of an active member or a veteran of the Georgia Army National Guard
  • Must be in good academic standing with a minimum GPA of: 3.0 for both Undergraduate and Graduate.

Edith Nourse Rogers STEM Scholarship

The Edith Nourse Rogers Science Technology Engineering Math (STEM) Scholarship allows some eligible Veterans and dependents in high-demand fields to extend their Post-9/11 GI Bill庐 or Fry Scholarship benefits. This scholarship can extend the benefits by up to 9 months, or $30,000 max.

Georgia Southern Specific Military Scholarships

These scholarships are sponsored by 橘子视频. For more information, contact us at mvs@georgiasouthern.edu and one of our team members will contact you shortly. These scholarships require military affiliation 鈥 Active Duty (including Reserves and National Guard), Veterans, and their Dependents.

The Patriot Fund

The Patriot Fund was established in 2019 by an anonymous donor to be awarded to Army Soldiers using the ArmyIgnitED Tuition Assistance Program. The scholarship can provide up to two additional hours of tuition coverage, mandatory lab fees, or book rental costs.

In order to be awarded support from the program, Georgia Southern has determined a list of the following criteria that must be met. This is to ensure that the active duty Service members most in need are the first to receive it.

  • Maintaining satisfactory academic progress in their program of study
  • Enrolled at Georgia Southern during fall, summer, or spring semester
  • Have maxed out Tuition Assistance credit hours for the current fiscal year, or within 6 hours of maxing out of the benefit.

Wounded Eagle Fund

The Wounded Eagle Fund was endowed by James H., Deborah B., and Jason F. Van Epps to support Wounded Warrior military veterans who are enrolled as students at 橘子视频.

This scholarship is to help provide financial support in the form of financial stipends toward the cost of books, fees or other educational costs not supported by the GI Bill庐. The scholarship is available to students currently serving or former members of any branch of the U.S. military service. In order to be awarded support from the program, Georgia Southern has determined a list of criteria that must be met. This is to ensure that the veterans most in need of our assistance are the first to receive it.

Recipients must be:

  • Enrolled as full-time students during Fall or Spring semester
  • A member of the Student Veteran Association
  • Currently serving any branch or former members immediate family members (Spouse or Children) are also eligible.
  • Maintaining a minimum of 3.0 GPA

Preference will be given to:

  • A disabled veteran student
  • A veteran student who is also a Purple Heart recipient
  • A veteran student undergoing unforeseen demonstrated hardship

Robert S. Haywood Scholarship

Established in 2007 by Paul and Liz Gillespie, this scholarship memorializes the life of Elizabeth鈥檚 father, Robert S. Haywood. Haywood was born in 1930 in Columbia, Tennessee, but grew up in Jackson, Mississippi. He graduated from Forest Hill High School in 1948, Hinds Junior College in 1950, and began attending Georgia Tech when he joined the Army to serve during the Korean War where he served as an Airborne Ranger. He graduated from Georgia Tech in 1954 with a degree in Industrial Engineering and was the owner/operator of Southeastern Metal Products until he retired in 2005. Haywood was an active member of Northside Drive Baptist Church since 1963, was past president of R.I.C.A., and has funded many scholarships.

Haywood Family Foundation has given the 橘子视频 Foundation a gift of $400,000 to create scholarships to educate sons and daughters of active duty or former U.S. Army Rangers.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Applicants must have successfully completed one term as a full-time student at 橘子视频.
  • Overall GPA must be greater than or equal to 3.5
  • Child of a parent currently serving/wounded or killed in combat while serving in the United States Armed Forces

Preference will be given for the following criteria: Child of a parent who is an Active Duty or Veteran US Army Ranger.

Martin & Suzette Nesmith Scholarship

Eligibility Requirements: 

  • Must be enrolled for an eligible undergrad or graduate degree program at 橘子视频
  • Student鈥檚 parent is currently serving or have served in the United States Armed Forces. 
  • Overall GPA must be greater than or equal to 3.0
  • Must be attending classes at Armstrong Campus or Liberty Campus

Preference will be given in order of the following criteria:

  • Student鈥檚 parent who was serving were wounded or killed in combat while serving in the United States Armed Forces. 
  • Students who are ROTC cadets and enrolled in the College of Science and Math

Lt. Col John E. King, USMC & Mary Thomas King Memorial Scholarship

The Lt. Col. John E. King, USMC and Mary Thomas King Memorial Scholarship supports children of active or former members of the US military including front-line soldiers, sailors, Marines, airmen, and Coast Guardsmen serving or having served in a combat theater of operations, as well as rear-echelon military personnel serving or having served in-theater.

Eligibility Requirements: 

  • Must be enrolled for an eligible undergrad or graduate degree program at 橘子视频
  • Are the child of a parent who is currently serving or a US Veteran who served in a 鈥淐ombat Zone鈥.
  • Overall GPA must be greater than or equal to 3.0

The Rev. Clarence Lee Tillman & OS2 Timothy Saunders Scholarship

The Rev. Clarence Lee Tillman & OS2 Timothy Lamont Saunders Scholarship聽honors the legacy of two men whose lives exemplified service, faith, and dedication to others. Reverend Clarence Lee Tillman was a respected pillar of the聽Athens聽community, known for his entrepreneurial spirit and unwavering commitment to uplifting individuals and families in need. Operations Specialist 2nd Class Timothy Lamont Saunders, a native of聽Danville, served in the United States Navy and was among the 17 sailors who lost their lives in the聽USS Cole bombing聽in Aden Harbor, Yemen. He is remembered for his positive spirit and was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, and Navy Unit Commendation.

This scholarship supports students who demonstrate academic achievement and have a connection to military service.


Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be a currently enrolled student at 橘子视频
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of聽3.0 or higher
  • Must be from a family with active or retired U.S. military member(s)
  • Must have attended high school in one of the following counties:
    • Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Fayette, Clarke, Forsyth, Gwinnett, Henry, Fulton, Paulding, Newton, Walton, Spalding, Barrow, or Douglas
  • Preference is given聽to students from Clarke County, Georgia, followed by students from Metro Atlanta
